Is there an InvestEngine referral code?

No, not one you type in. Instead, InvestEngine's referral scheme runs on a personal link: an existing customer taps "refer a friend", shares the link, and the new customer registers through it. Our link is investengine.com/referral/u/u968ps, so the code is effectively the u968ps on the end.

InvestEngine does use promo codes, but only for its separate Partner Welcome Bonus, which pays from the same random tiers. Similarly, the codes people share on Reddit and forums are other customers' referral links, so they pay the same as ours. Whichever link you use, the bonus only tracks if you register through it, so open the link before you start the sign-up.

How the InvestEngine referral bonus works

The scheme rewards a new customer (the Referee) and the existing customer who shared the link (the Referrer). Since 1 May 2026, both sides can qualify once they meet the conditions below. Here are the steps in order:

1. Open your InvestEngine account using the referral link on this page.
2. Complete registration and identity checks as a brand-new customer.
3. Invest at least £100 into your portfolio (ISA, GIA or SIPP).
4. Wait for the invitation to claim, then your Referral Funding is revealed and added to your portfolio.
5. Stay invested for 12 months to keep the bonus.

On top of that, the Referrer must also hold at least £100 funded in their account for the referral to count. Each Referrer is also capped at their first 25 qualifying referrals. InvestEngine says it aims to pay within two business days, although it can take five or more during busy periods.

How much is the InvestEngine referral bonus?

Importantly, the InvestEngine referral bonus is not a fixed figure. Instead, the amount is randomly generated at the point of claim, using a weighted pool. As a result, most people receive a modest amount rather than the headline maximum. Here is the published weighting for personal accounts:

• £20 to £24: 75% of awards
• £28 to £34: 15% of awards
• £42 to £56: 5% of awards
• £75 to £100: 3% of awards
• £150 to £200: 2% of awards

Therefore, the realistic expectation is roughly £20 to £24, not £200. Meanwhile, Business Accounts use a separate, higher pool that tops out at £400, but those require a valid LEI to invest. Because the figures are randomised, your actual award may differ from the weightings above.

That matches my own experience. I have run a DIY account with InvestEngine since the start of 2026, and my two referral rewards so far were £50 and £20.

What you need to qualify

To begin with, the Referee must be a brand-new customer who has never registered with or used InvestEngine before. Self-referrals are not accepted either, and only referrals the InvestEngine system recognises will count. After you receive the funding, both sides must remain invested for 12 months, keeping a minimum net investment of £100 plus the value of the Referral Funding. Otherwise, InvestEngine can reclaim an amount equal to the bonus. Consequently, this offer suits people who plan to invest for the long term anyway, rather than anyone hoping to withdraw quickly.

InvestEngine fees and what you actually get

Beyond the bonus, the platform itself is worth understanding. InvestEngine focuses purely on exchange-traded funds (ETFs), so you will not find individual shares here. Nevertheless, the pricing is low by UK standards. Specifically, DIY portfolios carry no platform fee at all, and you simply pay the underlying ETF charges, which start from around 0.03% a year. Better still, both the Stocks and Shares ISA and the SIPP have no platform fee, and InvestEngine removed its 0.15% pension fee back in December 2024.

If you would rather not pick funds yourself, InvestEngine's Managed portfolios cost 0.25% a year plus an average ETF charge of around 0.12%. However, on 22 October 2026 InvestEngine's homepage said Managed portfolios are currently unavailable to new clients. Is InvestEngine safe and regulated?

Reassuringly, InvestEngine is a trading name of InvestEngine (UK) Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 801128). Client money is held in segregated accounts, and eligible investments are protected up to £85,000 per person per FCA-authorised firm by the FSCS. However, FSCS protection covers firm failure, not investment losses, so your capital remains at risk whatever happens. Before you sign up

• New customers only: the Referee must never have used InvestEngine before.
• ISA, GIA or SIPP: the bonus works on all three personal accounts, including the SIPP.

• 12-month hold: withdraw early and InvestEngine can claw the bonus back.

Is the InvestEngine referral bonus worth it?

For long-term ETF investors, it is a small extra on top of a low-cost platform. That said, the average award is around £20 to £24, so it is best viewed as a bonus rather than the main reason to join.

How much can I actually get?

Personal accounts can receive up to £200, but only 2% of awards reach the £150 to £200 band. Most land at £20 to £24. Business Accounts can receive up to £400, subject to holding a valid LEI.

Do I have to keep my money invested?

Yes. Both sides must stay invested for 12 months from the date the funding is received, holding at least £100 plus the bonus value. Otherwise InvestEngine can reclaim the amount.

When will the bonus arrive?

InvestEngine aims to credit Referral Funding within two business days of you qualifying. During busy periods, however, it can take five or more business days.

Does the InvestEngine referral work for a SIPP?

Yes. The terms cover the ISA, the General Investment Account and the SIPP, so a new customer who opens a SIPP through the link and invests £100 qualifies in the same way. Business Accounts use their own, higher reward pool.

Are InvestEngine referral codes on Reddit any different?
