In short
The Zopa Biscuit referral is live again, and it now pays £20. Open a Biscuit current account through our link, then make at least three card transactions within 30 days. Biscuit is free to run and pays 1% AER (variable) as standard. Then you pick one benefit on top. The choices are 2.75% AER (variable) interest, 3% cashback on eating out, or 3% cashback on bills. Zopa Bank Limited is a UK bank, so your eligible deposits are FSCS protected. Rates and offers can change, so check the current terms in the Zopa app before you apply.
The steps are short, and there is no minimum deposit to hit. Here is the whole thing.
To be eligible you must be 18 or over, resident in the UK with UK-only tax residency, and not a United States citizen. Zopa sets out the full list on its Biscuit current account page.
Zopa rebuilt Biscuit this year, so the account works differently from the version most guides still describe. Everyone gets the same base, and then you choose one benefit on top. You can switch that choice whenever your spending changes.
1% AER (variable) as standard: Every Biscuit account earns 1% AER (1% gross) on the balance, paid monthly.
Option one, 2.75% AER (variable) on your balance: Choose extra interest and the rate rises to 2.75% AER (2.72% gross), which includes the standard 1%. There is no cap on the balance that earns it.
Option two, 3% cashback on eating out: You get 3% back on up to £150 a month of dining spend. That caps the cashback at £4.50 a month, or about £54 a year. Restaurants, takeaways and bakeries count. Orders through the likes of Just Eat and Deliveroo count too.
Option three, 3% cashback on bills: The same 3% applies to up to £150 of Direct Debits a month, again capped at £4.50 a month.
A free Caffè Nero drink every month: This one comes with every Biscuit account, whichever benefit you pick.
Fee-free card spending abroad: You get Visa's exchange rate with no mark-up. Cash withdrawals abroad are free up to £200 in any 30-day period. Above that, Zopa charges 2% on the excess. The fees document sets out the worked examples.
Plenty, so ignore any guide still quoting the old numbers. The 2% balance rate that ran for 12 months has gone, and the 7.10% AER regular saver is closed to new customers. Existing accounts have not been moved across yet, so longer-standing customers still see the old rate and a live saver pot. The app was redesigned at the same time, and it is far tidier than it used to be.
Savings now sit in Zopa's separate Smart Saver account instead. Access pots pay 2.95% AER (variable), Boosted notice pots pay up to 3.55% AER (variable) and fixed-term pots pay up to 4.65% AER. There is also an Access ISA at 3.25% AER (variable). Zopa lists all of these on its Smart Saver page.
Naturally, no account is perfect, so weigh the trade-offs before you move anything across.
First, the headline rates are variable, which means they can fall. Secondly, you only get one benefit at a time, so the cashback and the boosted interest cannot be stacked. Thirdly, each cashback option is capped at £4.50 a month, so the ceiling is modest.
Biscuit also sits outside the full Current Account Switch Service. You would therefore move Direct Debits and standing orders across by hand. Finally, it is a digital-only account, which rules out branches, cash and cheque deposits. For that reason, many people keep it alongside a main bank rather than in place of one.
Yes. The deposit-taker is Zopa Bank Limited, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the PRA under firm reference number 800542. Eligible deposits are protected up to £120,000 per eligible person per UK-authorised bank, building society or credit union by the FSCS (since 1 December 2025).
Yes. Our previous link expired and paid £10. The current Zopa Biscuit referral is live instead, and it pays £20 after three card transactions within 30 days.
It is £20. Zopa can change or end its refer-a-friend scheme at any time, so check the offer in the app before you apply.
No. Zopa states that there is no hard credit check when you open the account. Your credit file therefore stays clean.
For many people, yes, because the account is free and the base interest is decent. Our Biscuit bank account review goes through it properly, and our Is Zopa Biscuit safe? guide covers the protection side.
They suit different people, so it depends on whether you want cashback or the better app. We compare them directly in Monzo vs Biscuit, and there is a live Monzo referral offer too.
Not automatically. Biscuit sits outside the full Current Account Switch Service. You would therefore move your Direct Debits, standing orders and salary yourself.
