TrainPal guides: every article in one place
I book nearly all my UK train travel in the TrainPal app, which came to 62 journeys in the last three months. All of my TrainPal guides sit below, grouped by the question you arrived with. That might be whether the app is any good, how it compares with Trainline, how the membership tiers and PalPoints work, or how to get the welcome offer.

Nothing here is financial advice. TrainPal can change its fees, offers, tiers and rewards at any time, so check the app before you rely on any figure.
Get the TrainPal welcome offer
New users who join through an invite link get money off their first train booking. The amount changes often, so my referral page keeps the current offer and the steps to claim it.

Is TrainPal any good?
First, my verdict on the app after months of my own bookings, and the offer a new customer gets for joining.
Rewards and membership
Tiers, PalPoints and cashback
TrainPal runs four membership tiers, two kinds of points and PalWallet cashback all at once, and they are worth less than the big numbers suggest.
TrainPal vs the others
How TrainPal compares
Most people already have Trainline on their phone, so that comparison comes first.
Railcards
A Railcard first, then TrainPal's discounts
A Railcard takes a third off most fares, and it works inside TrainPal alongside its own discounts.
TrainPal at a glance
TrainPal is a train ticket app for UK and European rail. The app charges no booking fees on UK and European train tickets, except tickets in Spain, and it splits tickets automatically where that comes out cheaper. On top of the fare, it runs four membership tiers that pay PalPoints and cashback into your PalWallet.
Refunds are where the fees sit. TrainPal's own refund and change fee table charges up to £4.99 per ticket to refund and up to £9.99 per ticket to change, depending on the fare. So check whether a ticket is flexible before you book it.
How I cover TrainPal
Every TrainPal guide here starts from my own account. I book my trains in the app, hold a Network Railcard in it and stack the TrainPal Card on top. As a result, the screenshots, the savings and the tier figures are my own, checked in the app on the date at the top of each guide.
FAQs
Is TrainPal legit?
I think so. I book nearly all my train travel through it, 62 journeys in the last three months alone. My TrainPal review covers the app in detail, including split tickets and Delay Repay.
Does TrainPal charge booking fees?
Not in the app, for UK and European train tickets except tickets in Spain. Refunds and changes can carry a fee of their own, set out in TrainPal's refund fee table.
Is TrainPal cheaper than Trainline?
Often, because the TrainPal app adds no booking fee and splits tickets automatically. Still, compare both apps on the journey you want, because the cheapest split varies. My TrainPal vs Trainline guide shows the comparison side by side.
What are TrainPal PalPoints?
PalPoints are the rewards you earn on every booking, from 10 to 25 points per £1 depending on your membership tier. You swap 1,500 PalPoints for a 2% voucher on one journey. My tiers and PalPoints guide, publishing on 9 November 2026, works out what they are worth.
Fares, fees, offers and reward rates change, and TrainPal can change its terms without notice. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
