This week's mini-series app of the week is Airtime rewards. An app that basically gives you airtime credit for using your card as normal to shop. We also have a special referral code which means you can get up to a £1 bonus for joining.

What is it?

Airtime rewards is a little bit like Quidco highstreet, or Topcashback, but it differs in a few ways. The most important thing is probably that it's much easier to set up. It's app-based rather than using a website. It doesn't need you to remember to go into it before you make a purchase like on Topcashback. Instead, you register your bank card in the app and then... go about your life as usual. When you've got £10 or more saved up in your Airtime rewards wallet you can redeem it against your phone bill. It works with most of the UK phone networks and it doesn't matter if you're on PAYG or a contract.

Why is Airtime rewards our app of the week?

We chose airtime rewards as our app of the week as its one of the few apps in life that you can set and forget. It's a great way to passively save up money and it's a really great feeling opening the app to see how much your balance has grown. It's especially helpful at this time of year as Christmas and many Birthdays are approaching.

The other thing is, it's seriously well made and thought through. The app feels polished, considered and simple. There's no traps or tricks and its very easy to both set it up and redeem your balance. Plus (in our opinion) it looks really nice too.

Airtime rewards also have a vast range of offers available, from Argos, Holland & Barrett to Boots, Bloom and wild and Firebox basically... you name it and they probably have it.

How do I use airtime rewards?

We're so glad you asked. The first part is signing up. You can download their app from your favourite app stores. Or go to their website. But... if you sign up using this link https://airtimerewards.app.link/friend and type the code YHR79JYH you can get up to £1 to get you started.

Once you have the app installed there's a well designed onboarding flow that collects some of your details and creates you a profile.

You'll need to link at least one debit or credit card. Right now they only support Visas or Mastercards. They have been promising american express for years now... honestly we don't see that happening any time soon.

After that, you register the mobile number that you'd like to redeem the rewards against. That can either be a PAYG phone or a contract. They support the networks EE, GiffGaff, O2, Three and Vodaphone. So you should be covered.

Then, it's as simple as... spending like normal and letting the rewards build up. Our favourite offer at the minute is on huel where airtime rewards are offering 10% cashback! That even works on subscriptions where you already save 15%

Once you hit £10 in rewards head over o the rewards tab at the bottom, hit that redeem button. check your phone number and wait for the money to come off your bill. It really is that seamless.

Remember... use code YHR79JYH if you want to get up to an extra £1 to start you off with.
