What the Analogue 3D is

Analogue is an American company that makes FPGA versions of old consoles, including the Analogue Pocket handheld. An FPGA is a chip that can be wired up to behave like another piece of hardware. Analogue says the 3D took nearly four years of engineering, and its line on the result is "no input lag, no graphic or audio inaccuracies, no timing or frame rate problems."

In practice you put a real N64 cartridge in the top, plug the console into your TV with HDMI, and play. It runs Analogue's own software, 3DOS, which updates over Wi-Fi.

What the Analogue 3D does

• 4K output: games are scaled up to 4K over HDMI, which Analogue puts at ten times the resolution of the original console. 1080p is there too.
• Original Display Modes: filters that recreate the look of old CRT televisions and professional PVM monitors, scanlines included.
• Region free: a PAL cartridge from a UK car boot sale and a Japanese import both play, with no adapter.
• Four controller ports: original wired N64 pads plug straight in, so four-player GoldenEye or Mario Kart 64 works without extra kit.
• Bluetooth: Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth LE for wireless controllers.
• Built-in paks: the Expansion Pak and the Controller Pak memory card are built in, so you do not need to hunt down the originals.

There is no controller in the box. Original N64 controllers work, and Analogue sells the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller separately, though every version was sold out on its store on 4 October 2026.

Buying an Analogue 3D in the UK

Analogue sells the 3D through its own online store, which shows a limit of two per order. Prices are in US dollars, so the pound cost depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay.

The limits

It plays cartridges only. There are no games built in and no download store, so you need your own N64 cartridges.
