What the Google Fitbit Air is

Every earlier Fitbit had a display. The Air has none, so there are no notifications, no clock and nothing to tap. You wear it day and night and read your data in the app when you choose to.

Google launched it in the UK in May 2026, at a lower price than its watches and the Oura Ring. It was developed with the basketball player Stephen Curry, and Google's paid coaching, built on its Gemini AI, sits on top.

What it tracks

• Heart rate: continuously, day and night, plus heart rate variability.
• Sleep: stages and patterns, overnight.
• Blood oxygen: SpO2 readings.
• Activity: steps and workouts, with distance taken from your phone.
• Logging: weight, food, water, mood and cycles, entered in the app.

• Anyone tired of notifications, because there are none to dismiss.
• Buyers on a budget: it costs less than half the price of a Pixel Watch or an Oura Ring 5.

The limits

There is no GPS, so runs and walks need your phone with you for distance. Tech Advisor's review also found no NFC, so there are no contactless payments.

With no screen, you cannot check the time, a timer or your heart rate on the band itself.

The AI coaching is the main reason to use the app daily, and after three free months it costs £7.99 a month, which is £95.88 a year.

It is a fitness tracker, not a medical device. If the app flags anything about your heart, see your GP.

Where to buy the Fitbit Air in the UK

Amazon UK sells it new, sold and dispatched by Amazon, at the same £84.99 as Google. The specifications are on Google's UK store page, and Tech Advisor's review got a full week from a charge.

For a tracker with a screen and built-in GPS, the Fitbit Versa 4 is the closer Fitbit.
