Black NIGO x Nike beanie with the Nike swoosh and NIGO in white on the turn-up.

NIGO x Nike Obsidian Navy Beanie

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The NIGO Nike beanie is a navy wool hat made by Nike for the Design Museum's NIGO exhibition. The front carries the swoosh and the word NIGO in white. The show closed on 4 October 2026. I checked the Design Museum Shop on 12 October 2026, and the beanie was still in stock at £40.

What the NIGO Nike beanie is

It is a cuffed beanie in a colour Nike calls Obsidian, a very dark navy. The front of the turn-up carries the Nike swoosh with NIGO in bold white letters. The shop lists Nike as the maker and describes the hat as woollen.

It is part of the Design Museum Shop's range for NIGO: From Japan with Love, which ran from 1 May to 4 October 2026. The shop describes the beanie as only available from the Design Museum.

Who NIGO is

NIGO founded the streetwear label A Bathing Ape, known as BAPE, and is now artistic director at Kenzo. The Design Museum's exhibition page calls him one of the first creatives to bridge streetwear and luxury fashion.

The show was the first museum retrospective of his work outside Japan. It had over 700 objects, including a recreation of his teenage bedroom, ceramics he threw himself and a life-size glass tea house.

Who the NIGO Nike beanie suits

  • People who saw the show: it is a way to keep something from the exhibition that is not a catalogue.
  • NIGO and BAPE fans: the graphic was made for this collaboration and the Design Museum.
  • Anyone who wears a plain dark beanie: the design is one graphic on the cuff and nothing else.

The limits

The exhibition has closed and the range was made for it, so stock may not last. If you want one, order it soon.

The listing gives no fibre content, no care instructions and no size guide. If you are unsure about fit or washing, ask the shop before you buy.

On its own, £40 does not reach the £60 free delivery line, so you will pay postage unless you add something else to the order.

You are paying more than for an ordinary Nike beanie, because of the NIGO graphic and the exhibition tie-in.

Where to buy it in the UK

The Design Museum Shop is the only place I found selling it new, at £40, and it was in stock. Check stock on the day, because the range was made for a show that has now ended.
