Rose Wylie Girl in Lights pink sweatshirt from the Royal Academy exhibition

Rose Wylie Girl in Lights Pink Sweatshirt

Last updated: 12 October 2026

No longer available. On 12 October 2026 the Royal Academy Shop showed this sweatshirt as out of stock in both sizes, S/M and L/XL. The exhibition it was made for closed on 19 April 2026, and we could not find another shop selling it new.

The Rose Wylie sweatshirt is a pink crewneck from the Royal Academy Shop, printed with Wylie's painting Girl in Lights. It was made for her 2026 survey show, Rose Wylie: The Picture Comes First. The last listed price was £25, cut from £50, and both sizes have now sold out.

What it is

This is official exhibition merchandise, sold by the Royal Academy of Arts through its own shop. The front carries Wylie's Girl in Lights. The sleeve also carries a detail in Wylie's own handwriting, which the RA calls playful.

The show itself ran in the RA's Main Galleries from 28 February to 19 April 2026. According to her gallery, David Zwirner, it was Wylie's largest survey exhibition in the UK. So the sweatshirt belongs to a fixed moment in her career.

What the Rose Wylie sweatshirt does

  • The painting on the front: a print of Girl in Lights on a pink body.
  • The handwritten sleeve: a detail on the sleeve in Wylie's own handwriting.
  • The crewneck cut: a standard round neck, so it layers under a coat or over a shirt.

Key facts

  • Maker: Royal Academy of Arts, sold through the RA Shop
  • Artwork: Girl in Lights by Rose Wylie RA
  • Last listed price: £25, reduced from £50
  • S/M: chest 54cm, body length 71cm, sleeve length 65.5cm
  • L/XL: chest 60cm, body length 75cm, sleeve length 68.5cm
  • Care: wash with similar colours, inside out, and do not iron on the print
  • Stock on 12 October 2026: out of stock in both sizes

Who it suits

It suits people who saw the RA show and wanted something to wear afterwards. It also suits anyone who follows Wylie's painting. Wylie was born in Hythe, Kent, in 1934. In 2014 she won the John Moores Painting Prize. The RA elected her a Royal Academician the same year.

Because it has sold out, though, the realistic audience now is collectors hunting second-hand. If that is you, the S/M and L/XL measurements above help you check a resale listing before you pay.

The limits

The sizing is the first catch. There are only two sizes, and each one covers a pair of standard sizes. As a result, the fit is loose by design, and anyone between sizes has less room to choose.

The care rules are the second catch. You cannot iron over the print, and the RA advises washing it inside out.

Availability is the biggest problem. The RA sold it as exhibition stock, and the show closed in April 2026. On top of that, the RA Shop does not give the fabric composition.

Where to buy it in the UK

The only seller we found was the Royal Academy Shop, and on 12 October 2026 it showed both sizes as out of stock. The product page is still live, so a restock would appear there first.
