The standard Emma app free trial lasts 7 days. Download Emma on your phone through our invite link and start a trial on Plus, Pro or Ultimate, and you get 30 days instead. Emma is a UK budgeting app that pulls your bank accounts and credit cards into one place through Open Banking.

The free Basic plan connects two bank logins. Paid plans run from £4.99 a month for Plus to £14.99 a month for Ultimate, or from £41.99 a year. Prices checked on emma-app.com on 5 October 2026.

Emma Technologies Ltd is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority for Open Banking under FRN 794952.

How to get the 30-day Emma app free trial

  1. Open our invite link on your phone and download Emma from there. The longer trial only applies to a download through an invite link on mobile.
  2. Create your account and connect a current account or credit card. PayPal and other digital wallets do not count.
  3. Start a free trial on Plus, Pro or Ultimate. It runs for 30 days instead of 7.

You need to be a UK resident and new to Emma. A bank account that has already been connected to Emma, by you or anyone else, makes you ineligible. These conditions come from Emma's referral programme terms, last updated on 17 December 2025.

What the Emma app does

Emma connects to your bank accounts and credit cards with read-only Open Banking access. It sorts your transactions into categories, tracks your spending against budgets, and lists your recurring payments so you can spot subscriptions you forgot about. You can also set your budget month to run from payday rather than from the 1st.

The paid plans add cashback offers from partner brands, credit monitoring, rent reporting and transfers between your linked accounts. Emma says it has 3 million customers.

Emma plans and prices

  • Basic: free, two bank logins, up to £500 of transfers a month
  • Plus: £4.99 a month or £41.99 a year, four bank logins, up to £1,500 of transfers a month
  • Pro: £9.99 a month or £83.99 a year, unlimited bank logins, up to £3,000 of transfers a month
  • Ultimate: £14.99 a month or £124.99 a year, unlimited bank logins and transfers, and up to four extra members at £5.99 a month each

Paying yearly saves 30% against twelve monthly payments. Rent reporting sends your rent payments to TransUnion, Experian and Equifax, which can help build a credit file if you rent.

When the trial ends, Emma charges for the plan you chose unless you cancel first. So set a reminder for day 28 if you are only trying it out.

Is Emma safe?

Emma Technologies Ltd is registered with the FCA under the Payment Services Regulations 2017, FRN 794952. It is separately authorised under FRN 1042167 for investment services and consumer credit activities, including credit broking. As a credit broker, Emma does not lend money itself and may receive commission from lenders it introduces you to.

The bank connection is read-only, so Emma can see your transactions but cannot move money unless you make an Open Banking payment yourself. Emma also offers savings pots and investing. With investing, capital is at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Who the Emma app suits

Emma suits people with accounts at more than one bank who want one view of their spending and bills. If you bank with one provider, its own app may already do most of this for free. Our Emma app review covers how the paid tiers compare in daily use, and the best free budgeting apps roundup lists the alternatives.
