Ocean Bottle Original 500ml
Last updated: 4 October 2026
The Ocean Bottle Original is a 500ml insulated water bottle made mostly from recycled stainless steel, and every one sold pays for 11.4kg of ocean-bound plastic to be collected, which Ocean Bottle says equals 1,000 plastic bottles. It keeps drinks cold for up to 18 hours and hot for up to six. On 4 October 2026 Amazon UK sold the Sun Orange bottle for £39.99, sold by Ocean Bottle, and Ocean Bottle's own UK shop listed the 500ml at £35.

Where the plastic money goes
Ocean Bottle funds collection points in coastal communities, within 30 miles of the sea and along rivers that carry plastic into it. Collection partners such as CleanHub pay local collectors for the plastic they gather.
The figure per bottle is 11.4kg, the weight of 1,000 plastic bottles. The company's app also lets you scan refills, and each scan funds a little more collection.
How the bottle works
The walls are double-skinned steel with a vacuum between them. Cold drinks stay cold for up to 18 hours and hot drinks stay hot for up to six, according to Ocean Bottle, and the outside does not sweat in a warm room.
The lid has two openings. You can sip from the small spout, or unscrew the wider base of the lid to add ice, fill it quickly or get a brush inside. The lid rotates and is sealed against leaks, so it can go in a bag.
There is a carry loop on the lid and an NFC chip in the base, which links the bottle to the Ocean Bottle app. The whole bottle is dishwasher safe.

The limits
Six hours is short for hot drinks. If you want tea that is still hot at the end of a long day, a dedicated flask will do better.
Amazon is not the cheapest place for it. On 4 October 2026 the same 500ml bottle cost £35 direct from Ocean Bottle, against £39.99 on Amazon UK. This Amazon listing is for Sun Orange, while the Ocean Bottle shop has the full colour range.
The impact figure is the company's own. Ocean Bottle publishes how its collection works, but the 11.4kg per bottle is its claim rather than an independent audit.
