Cool Factor: 4/5
The Our Place Titanium Always Pan Pro arrived with a lot of noise behind it. Named one of TIME magazine's Best Inventions of 2024, it promised a genuinely new approach to nonstick cooking: no coating, no forever chemicals, just engineered titanium doing the work. So we put it through its paces. This Always Pan Pro review covers everything from the first cook to the long-term clean-up. Is it worth the price? Here's the honest answer.
What is the Our Place Titanium Always Pan Pro?
The Always Pan Pro is Our Place's premium cookware range, and it's built quite differently from the brand's original ceramic pans. Instead of a nonstick coating, it uses patented NoCo® technology — a micro-textured titanium interior inspired by the Lotus Effect, the natural phenomenon where microscopic surface patterns make water bead off rather than absorb. As a result, the pan achieves a nonstick effect through material science rather than chemistry. There are no PFAS, no PTFE, and no coating of any kind.
The construction is fully-clad tri-ply: stainless steel exterior, aluminium core for even heat distribution, and titanium interior. Our Place claims the titanium is 300% harder than standard stainless steel. The standard size is 27.5cm, and it comes with a steam-release lid and a silicone spatula that nests into the built-in spoon rest.
Crucially, this is a different product from the Always Pan 2.0. That pan uses a ceramic nonstick coating and is ultra-slippery from the start. The Pro is coating-free, which means it behaves differently — and understanding that difference is key to getting the most from it.
First impressions
Out of the box, the chrome finish is striking. It looks more like professional cookware than a lifestyle pan, which is a shift from Our Place's usual pastel palette. The weight is substantial but not unwieldy. The riveted handle feels secure, and the spatula slots neatly into the handle rest without rattling.
The lid is well-made — the steam-release mechanism is simple and effective. One thing worth flagging upfront: the surface doesn't look like a traditional nonstick at all. It has a micro-textured, almost industrial appearance. That's intentional, but if you're expecting a smooth, slippery-looking interior like a ceramic pan, the Pro will look different to what you might expect.
In use: what it's actually like to cook with
This is where expectations need managing — and where the pan either wins you over or frustrates you, depending on your approach.
The NoCo® surface does not behave like traditional nonstick. Food doesn't slide around freely when the pan is cold. Instead, the nonstick effect activates once the pan is properly preheated and the food has reached cooking temperature and is ready to release. Our Place calls this "self-release" — the food essentially signals it's done by letting go of the surface. Once you understand this, scrambled eggs and pan-fried fish stop being stressful and start working well. Before you understand it, you'll probably pull at things too early and wonder if the pan is broken.
High-heat searing is genuinely excellent. Steak develops a proper crust. The fully-clad construction means heat is distributed evenly right to the edges, without hot spots. Induction compatibility is clean and responsive. Stovetop-to-oven transitions are seamless, and the 535℃ oven limit means there's almost no cooking scenario this pan can't handle.
Metal utensils — including steel wool — can be used directly on the surface without concern. This alone changes the way you interact with a pan. After years of being careful about scratching coatings, using a metal spatula without anxiety feels like a genuine upgrade.
Cleaning is straightforward. A rinse or a gentle scrub handles most cooking residue. For anything more stubborn — carbonisation from high-heat searing, for instance — a soak and a proper scrub with steel wool is both safe and effective. In dishwasher testing, the pan holds up well thanks to the fully-sealed rims Our Place built specifically for this.
Value for money
At a full UK price of £170 for the standard 27.5cm pan, the Always Pan Pro is expensive by any measure. It costs significantly more than most nonstick pans and sits comfortably in the same price bracket as mid-range stainless steel sets.
The case for the price rests entirely on longevity. A ceramic nonstick pan, however well made, has a coating that degrades over time — typically within one to three years of regular use. The Always Pan Pro has no coating to degrade. In theory, it should perform the same in ten years as it does on day one, and Our Place backs that claim with a limited lifetime warranty. So while the upfront cost is high, the total cost spread over its working life starts to look much more competitive.
That said, the pan is not for everyone at this price. If you cook mostly eggs, delicate fish, and dishes that genuinely need maximum slip from the start, the Always Pan 2.0 at £125 is a better fit and a more forgiving daily pan. The Pro makes more sense for cooks who also want high-heat searing capability, use metal utensils regularly, or want to stop replacing pans every couple of years.

The verdict
Cool Factor
★★★★☆
4 out of 5 — Stone cold
The Our Place Titanium Always Pan Pro is a genuinely impressive piece of kit. It delivers on its core claims: the NoCo® surface works, it handles high heat without issue, metal utensils do no damage, and the dishwasher genuinely doesn't hurt it. For anyone who has grown tired of replacing coated nonstick pans, it offers a compelling alternative that's built to last.
Overall, a solid 4/5 Stone cold. The Always Pan Pro earns it with a cooking experience that rewards the learning curve, a durability advantage that's hard to argue with, and a design confidence that makes it feel like a proper tool rather than a lifestyle accessory. What stops it reaching Ice cold is the price — at £170 it's a genuine commitment — and the fact that new cooks expecting instant ceramic-style slip will need a period of adjustment before the pan performs at its best. Come prepared for both, and it's very hard to be disappointed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Our Place Always Pan Pro worth buying?
For most home cooks who want a durable, long-term nonstick pan that handles high heat and metal utensils, yes. The caveat is that the cooking technique is slightly different from a ceramic pan — food self-releases rather than sliding freely, so there's a short adjustment period. If you're willing to adapt, the pan rewards you with performance and longevity that a coated pan can't match.
How is the Always Pan Pro different from the Always Pan 2.0?
The Always Pan 2.0 uses Our Place's Thermakind ceramic nonstick coating, which is very slippery from day one and easier for beginners. The Pro has no coating at all — its nonstick effect is created by the engineered titanium surface. The Pro handles higher temperatures (535℃ vs 232℃), is safe with metal utensils, comes with a lifetime warranty, and costs more. The 2.0 is the more accessible daily pan; the Pro is the longer-term investment.
Does the Always Pan Pro really work on induction?
Yes. The stainless steel exterior is induction-compatible and works on all hob types, including gas, electric, and ceramic.
Is the Always Pan Pro genuinely free of forever chemicals?
Yes. Because the nonstick effect is created by the physical structure of the titanium surface rather than a chemical coating, there are no PFAS or PTFE involved. Our Place has confirmed this since the product's launch.
Does the Always Pan Pro come with a warranty?
Yes. All Titanium Pro cookware comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Full terms are available on the Our Place website.
