Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Overpaying is optional and subject to your lender's terms. Sprive is a tool to help you overpay, not mortgage advice.

Sprive runs regular sign-up deals for new users who join via a referral link. Depending on the campaign, you could get a direct credit towards your mortgage (typically £5 to £10), boosted access to Sprive's full cashback catalogue of over 1,000 brands, or a combination of both. The Sprive referral code LM125CR6 activates whatever offer is live when you sign up. The reward is confirmed in-app during registration, so you'll see exactly what you're getting before you commit to anything.

What does the Sprive referral code get you?

When you sign up using our Sprive referral code, you get two things. First, a sign-up bonus credited directly to your mortgage overpayment balance. Second, boosted cashback access, which means you can start shopping at Sprive's full catalogue of over 1,000 brands and earning rewards towards your mortgage straight away.

The exact bonus amount depends on the promotion Sprive is running when you join. They rotate campaigns regularly, so the in-app sign-up screen is always the most accurate source. What stays consistent is that using a referral code gets you a better starting deal than signing up without one.

Sprive also runs an ongoing weekly referral prize draw where existing users who refer friends can win between £5 and £1,000 in mortgage overpayment credits. That means once you're set up, you can earn additional rewards by sharing your own code too. Full terms are on Sprive's referral prize draw page.

What is Sprive and how does it work?

Sprive's core model is straightforward. You shop at participating brands through the Sprive app (over 1,000 retailers, from supermarkets to travel companies). Instead of keeping the cashback yourself, it goes directly towards overpaying your mortgage. Small amounts add up over time, and even modest regular overpayments can shave years off a standard repayment mortgage. That said, overpaying isn't right for everyone: if your mortgage has tight overpayment limits or early repayment charges, the benefit can be reduced.

On top of the cashback, Sprive also has an autosaving feature. It connects to your bank via Open Banking, analyses your spending, and helps you set aside small amounts within limits you control. Those amounts then go towards overpayments too. For a full walkthrough of the setup, our how the Sprive app works guide covers each step.

Sprive also has a shopping calculator on its site so you can model what a given monthly cashback amount would actually save you in interest and time over the life of your mortgage.

What Sprive does

  • Lets you shop at 1,000+ brands and redirects cashback to your mortgage.
  • Automatically sets aside small amounts from your bank based on spending patterns.
  • Tracks your mortgage overpayments and models projected interest and time savings.
  • Runs a direct debit to handle overpayment transfers to your lender.
  • Runs periodic prize draws where users can win mortgage payment credits.

What Sprive does not do

  • It does not change your mortgage rate or terms.
  • It does not replace your mortgage provider.
  • It does not invest or hold your money in savings products.
  • It does not provide mortgage or financial advice, and neither do we.

Things to be aware of

Sprive works well for us, but it isn't right for everyone. A few honest limitations to weigh up before you sign up:

  • Overpayment limits apply. Most fixed-rate mortgages cap penalty-free overpayments at around 10% of the balance per year. Exceeding that can trigger Early Repayment Charges that cancel out the benefit.
  • Cashback rates are modest. Typically 1-4% on supermarkets, not the headline "up to 15%" ceiling. This accelerates your overpayments, it doesn't transform them.
  • Your money is safeguarded, not FSCS-protected, while it sits in the Sprive wallet before reaching your lender (see below).
  • Not all lenders are supported. Check the app to confirm yours is covered before you rely on it.

Eligibility for the Sprive referral bonus

  • New users only. You must not have previously downloaded Sprive or agreed to its terms.
  • Aged 18 or over.
  • UK-based. Sprive is targeted at UK consumers.
  • Must use the referral link. Signing up without it means the referral will not track.
  • Must complete the qualifying step. This includes setting up a direct debit and completing your first shop. The exact requirement is shown in-app and may vary by campaign.
  • No duplicate accounts. Using alternative contact details to sign up a second account is not permitted.

Is Sprive safe and regulated?

Sprive Limited holds its own Financial Services Register number (FRN 919863) and is an appointed representative of Connect IFA Ltd (FRN 441505), who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for mortgage services. Payment and e-money services are handled by PrePay Technologies Limited, an electronic money institution authorised by the FCA under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (FRN 900010). You can verify all three on the FCA Register.

CoolCuration is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are not a mortgage adviser or a financial adviser, this page is not financial or mortgage advice, and the link above is a referral link.

Money held in your Sprive wallet is safeguarded, not FSCS-protected. That means your funds are ring-fenced from Sprive's operating money, but the protection works differently from a bank savings account. For a fuller breakdown of safety, data handling, and Open Banking security: Is Sprive safe?

Common issues and quick fixes

My referral did not track

  • Try opening the referral link in a private browser window, then download the app from there.
  • Check you completed all qualifying steps including the direct debit setup and first shop.
  • If you previously signed up (even briefly), you may not be eligible as a new user.
  • Contact Sprive directly at [email protected] if you think there is an error.

I am unsure about overpayment limits on my mortgage

Most UK fixed-rate mortgages allow up to 10% overpayment per year before Early Repayment Charges apply. Check your mortgage offer documents or call your lender. For more detail, our Sprive overpayment rules guide explains what to check.
