Trading 212 referral code: get a free share worth up to £100

Last updated: 22 September 2026. I checked every figure in this Trading 212 referral code guide against Trading 212’s own Invite a Friend terms on 22 September 2026.

This article contains affiliate and referral links, which are paid links. If you click one and buy or sign up, I earn a commission or referral bonus at no extra cost to you. Brands don’t choose what I feature or what I say about them. This is information, not financial advice.

Capital at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Quick summary: Trading 212 restarted its free share campaign on 21 September 2026, and it runs until 3 November 2026. Open an Invest account or a Stocks and Shares ISA through my Trading 212 referral code referral link. Next, verify your identity. Then pay in at least £1 within ten days. You then receive one free fractional share worth between £8 and £100. Trading 212 weights the pool so the larger shares are rarer. Most rewards therefore land near the bottom of that range. Trading 212 UK Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 609146. The FCA is the UK regulator for investment firms.

Obviously the campaign window is fixed. Trading 212 closes it on 3 November 2026, and the link stops working then.

What the Trading 212 referral code gets you

A Trading 212 referral code is simply the invite link an existing customer shares. Trading 212 calls the promotion behind it Invite a Friend. It pays a reward share rather than cash. Simply open an account through a referral link, meet the conditions, and Trading 212 then drops a randomly selected fractional share into it. A fractional share is a slice of one share, so the reward can be a few pounds of a company trading at hundreds.

The published range for a sterling account is £8 to £100. However, the terms are explicit. Each share carries a weighted probability, and higher-value shares are less common. So treat £100 as the rare top of the range, not the expected outcome. You can sell the share straight away, although the cash then sits locked for 30 days.

Afterwards, you can pass your own link on. A referrer collects rewards for up to five qualifying friends per campaign. That is up to five more free shares.

How to use the Trading 212 referral code, step by step

  1. Sign up through the referral link. Open a Trading 212 Invest account or a Stocks and Shares ISA. An ISA is the tax-free wrapper UK investors use for shares and funds. Contracts for difference, Cash ISA and crypto accounts are all excluded.
  2. Verify your identity. Next, Trading 212 runs the standard identity and address checks before you can fund the account.
  3. Deposit within ten days. Pay in at least the minimum amount on Trading 212’s fees page, currently £1. The deadline is ten calendar days after opening the account. Bank transfers are free, so the qualifying step can cost a single pound.
  4. Wait up to three business days. Subsequently, Trading 212 allocates the share within three business days of both sides meeting the conditions.
  5. Leave the money alone for a week. Close the account within seven days of the award, or pull every deposited pound back out, and Trading 212 can reclaim the reward.

Open Trading 212 and claim your share

Capital at risk. A free share is still an investment. Its value can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than the amount you deposited to qualify.

Who can claim it

Admittedly, the conditions attached to the Trading 212 referral code are tighter than the headline suggests, so read them before you start. Essentially, you qualify only as a new client. That means you have never opened or held an Invest account or a Stocks and Shares ISA with any Trading 212 company. In addition, anyone who has already taken a reward from an earlier Trading 212 promotion is out, whether it came through a code or a link.

Importantly, the United Kingdom is on the eligible country list for this campaign. Trading 212 also issues referral links on a limited basis, so not every existing customer has one to share.

The ISA trap worth knowing about

Notably, if the reward lands in your Stocks and Shares ISA, it counts towards your £20,000 annual ISA allowance. Normally that makes no practical difference, because a few pounds barely dents the limit. If your ISA is already fully subscribed, though, Trading 212 pays the reward into your Invest account instead. Should you not hold one, you get six weeks to open an Invest account. Miss that and you forfeit the share.

Trading 212 fees and key features

  • No commission and no custody fee. Trading 212 charges nothing to buy or sell shares and nothing to hold them.
  • Free Stocks and Shares ISA. There is no platform fee on the ISA, which is unusual among UK brokers.
  • 0.15% currency conversion fee. You pay this whenever you convert money between currencies, for example when buying a US-listed share. A multi-currency wallet lets you avoid repeat conversions.
  • £1 minimum. The minimum deposit, minimum withdrawal and minimum order are all £1, so fractional investing works from a standing start.
  • Card deposits free to £2,000. Bank transfers are always free. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay deposits are free up to £2,000 in total, then cost 0.7%.
  • Interest on uninvested cash. Trading 212 advertises 3.8% AER on sterling cash, paid daily. AER means the annual equivalent rate, and this one is variable, so check the current figure in the app.
  • Pies and AutoInvest. You can build a basket of holdings that rebalances itself, which suits a hands-off approach.

Tax treatment depends on the individual circumstances of each client and may be subject to change in future.

Is Trading 212 safe and regulated?

Trading 212 UK Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 609146. It is registered in England and Wales under company number 08590005. The registered office is Aldermary House, 10-15 Queen Street, London EC4N 1TX.

Eligible investments are protected up to £85,000 per person per FCA-authorised firm by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. That scheme is the statutory safety net for a failed firm. It does not cover money lost because a share fell in value. CoolCuration is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not give financial advice.

What to watch out for

Three details of the Trading 212 referral code regularly catch people out. First, the ten-day deposit deadline runs from account opening, not from the day you get round to funding it. Second, the 30-day lock-up applies to the cash value. Selling early therefore releases nothing sooner. Third, sell a reward share at a loss inside that window and only the smaller sale proceeds come free at the end.

One more point is easy to miss. You can refuse the reward within 24 hours of it landing. That matters if holding a particular company clashes with your job. After that window closes, Trading 212 offers no replacement.

FAQs

How much is the Trading 212 free share worth?

Typically, Trading 212 sets the value of a reward share between £8 and £100 on a sterling account. Because Trading 212 weights the pool and the bigger shares are rarer, most people receive something near the lower end. Naturally, you see the exact value in the app when Trading 212 allocates the share.

Where do I find a Trading 212 referral code?

Usually an existing customer generates it in the app under the free shares menu, then shares it as a link. Mine is the button on this page. Trading 212 hands out referral links on a limited basis, so not every customer has one to pass on.

How long does the Trading 212 free share offer last?

The current campaign runs from 21 September 2026 to 23:59 on 3 November 2026. Trading 212 issues referral links at the start of a campaign, and they expire automatically when it ends. A link that worked last month will not work now.

How much do I have to deposit to get the free share?

Firstly, deposit at least the minimum amount on Trading 212’s fees page, currently £1. You have ten calendar days from opening the account. Bank transfer deposits carry no fee.

Can I sell the free share straight away?

Yes, you can sell it immediately if you want to. However, the cash value locks for 30 days from the moment Trading 212 credits it. You cannot withdraw it before then. The lock-up applies only to the reward, not to the rest of your money.

Does the offer work with a Stocks and Shares ISA?

It does. Indeed, Trading 212 offers a free Stocks and Shares ISA alongside the general Invest account. Bear in mind that a reward paid into an ISA counts towards your £20,000 annual allowance.

Can I claim if I already had a Trading 212 account?

No. Unfortunately, the promotion is limited to new clients. They must never have opened or held an Invest account or Stocks and Shares ISA with any Trading 212 company. They must also never have taken a reward from an earlier Trading 212 promotion.

Is my money protected with Trading 212?

Certainly, Trading 212 UK Limited is FCA-regulated. Eligible investments are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £85,000 per person per FCA-authorised firm. That protects you against the firm failing, not against investment losses.

Does a Trading 212 referral code work on a CFD account?

No. Contracts for difference accounts, Cash ISAs and crypto accounts all sit outside the promotion entirely. Only an Invest account or a Stocks and Shares ISA qualifies.

Is this financial advice?

No. This page is information only and is not financial advice. Investing involves risk and you may get back less than you invest. Promotions can change or end at any time, so always read the provider’s terms before you sign up.
